Developing your Creative Media Project
Try to answer the follow questions about your Creative Media Project using
‘The five W's and an H':
• Why is your project it important (what’s the purpose of your project proposal)?
The purpose of my project is to inform the audience on stop motion usage within children’s TV and to show them how its changed over the years and how this might impact children. This is important as children are extremely influential so understanding this change may help have a better understanding on children and what’s beneficial for them.
• What do I need to know (what research strategies will you use, what do you need to know/find out/understand)?
I will need to find out how stop motion has evolved over time so doing a comparison is a potential way to find this out. I am considering doing a small semiotic analysis to understand what messages are conveyed to children through the programs they watch. By comparing older tv with newer as well as researching how stop motion has developed, I will be doing historical research.
• Who does it impact on (who’s the audience, what’s the intended effect on them)?
This impacts anyone that may have an interest in stop motion as well as adults who want to know how children can be influenced easily by the media and the media being tv.
• Where can I get more information from (your sources and your research strategies)?
Secondary research and potentially primary research by interviewing people involved with children or within the industry of children’s tv and or stop motion productions.
• When is this happening (your time management strategy)?
See Gantt chart. The Gantt chart is a flexible guideline in order to complete this project on time.

• How will it be implemented (what media type will you use and why)?
Through a documentary style production, I will do this to promote my presenting skills but I also think that this will be an effective way to show my information. I also want to make a short stop motion production to highlight my understanding of stop motion and have it shown within the documentary as an example for the audience to see.
Using this development I then had to create a presentation to explain my idea to everyone; the purpose of this was to gather feedback and allow myself to improve my idea. This presentation is the first proper chance to showcase and properly form ideas. Below are some of the slides from my presentation.

Feedback I got on my idea for this idea is that my idea was too vague and needed narrowing down. The idea was something that could easily get lost because of the scale of it and I needed to have something more specific within this that I could explore and potentially touch upon other aspects. Having this opportunity allowed me to reflect on my idea and really think about where I wanted to go with it and what I wanted to achieve.
Before being given our tutors we had to come up with a title for our dissertation. Having this title and idea meant a starting point and further discussion in creating a concrete idea for this project having this talk will enable me to have a clear understanding of what I need to do in order to complete this project. How British children’s Tv (specifically stop motion) influences young children and how it has changed over the years and the impact this may have? Again this title was still very vague however I wanted it to be so I had something to play with and discuss all aspects when Tutors were given as I still had a lot of ideas that I wanted to use within this topic of documentary and stop motion.
