The Theme:
The theme is a crucial part of the event without it there would be nothing tying everyone's work together and has the potential of just being a plain and un-engaging way to present our work. By creating a theme and specifically choosing one that matches the time of year it means our audience is already going to be engaged with it, and gives us a better chance of engaging those who we want to target.
Our main theme for the show is Christmas however this is such a broad theme that can involve many colour schemes and moods. To decide on a set colour scheme/idea I did some research on Christmas and what it can involve by doing this I can then see which relates more to the work or the technology we want to incorporate.
Christmas research:
The Christmas we know stems from a "Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus." (Britannica, 2021) however this religious celebration has been adopted by society and plays a massive art in the culture we live in. With more traditional and classic colour schemes for Christmas including reds and greens it was a colour palette we did consider as its distinctly recognizable. However, with culture bringing Christmas into their yearly celebrations and it becoming less religious as the years have gone on the colour palette in which Christmas involves has also developed. Christmas now involves every colour you could possibly want from blues and oranges to pinks so because of this we were able have full control of the theme without limitations on colours.

With no limitations to colour schemes we were set to decide on our Christmas theme; we knew we wanted to create a more immersive experience something that was less traditional and more futuristic as we want to give the impression that we as young creatives are the future for the creative industries. When thinking of the future and the futuristic concept colours that kept coming up were blues and silvers and because of this we decided on the idea of an immersive winter wonderland. Our chosen colour palette includes a variations of blues (the blues below) as well as silver and white; we decided on these colours as it will hopefully create the right atmosphere to make our winter wonderland idea a more immersive experience to fully engage with our audience.

After choosing the colour scheme I went a did some primary research on Christmas related items that would match the colour scheme and something that would inspire the group and help generate ideas for Chapter One. Webb's had their Christmas displays up so was the perfect opportunity to see what inspiration we could get for our own event. Doing this meant a starting point for group discussion which could take place in class as well as being able to reflect on previous choices made and make sure that everything flows and is all coherent.
The Location:
Choosing a location in my eyes is just as important as choosing a theme so it was something that was carefully considered. Options included multiple venues within the University like the Art House as well as The Undercroft at the Worcester Cathedral. When we were discussing about our theme and which venue would match; so a lot was considered before making our final decision. Considerations included transporting anything physical we wanted, easily accessible for us as well as guests , space that we could use and what space matches the theme better. Uses these considerations and more as a group we decided on the Undercroft at Worcester Cathedral, the amazing architecture and space that was available was an opportunity we couldn't turn down. Images below are taken from the Undercroft before the event when we were planning on what location was best.
