Now with our theme and name chosen we can continue to develop our ideas and preparations for the show. The first major things that this includes is a definite location as well as initial branding and our own ideas of how we want our own station to look. Getting this done will give us a massive advantage in trying to sort out the rest of the event as it will allow us to make it all coherent and effectively appeal to the audience.
Location:
As I previously mentioned the group all agreed on a location for the event we just had to make sure it was available. However, decided on this had a process in terms of processing what would suit our needs best. Locations we looked at are shown in the images below and I will explain our though process with each location and why we ended up choosing the one we did in the end.
Location 1: University room 1- This room has relatively easy access, and also has separate little rooms on the side which we could include and use in our exhibition. It is a very large space with lots of potential however was very light and had limitations in darkening the room. As a backup this space is useable but did not suit all our needs for this show which is why after discussion it is not our first choice.
Location 2: University room 2- Another room at the universities city campus in an ideal location, easy access, plenty of space as well as having options to darker if needed. The room also had plug sockets well spread out as well as the added bonus of it having four TV's that we could utilize. Overall, collectively our first preference to have the event there as it fits all our needs as well as it being practical due to it being part of the uni.
Location 3: Retroids arcade bar- A relatively small space that fits our theme perfectly. The bar is located in the city center so location is practical. Already has the right atmosphere so wouldn't need much doing to it in that sense however due to it being a small venue we have limitations in terms of space for our own work. Despite it being an interesting location it doesn't fit our criteria as a group and is not a suitable location.
Location 4: Han Bao- Another small location in the center of Worcester, slightly more open with potential to display our work effectively, has a similar concept that we could use due to the lighting and the food nd drink aspect would be a nice addition to add to the event. However, this space despite ticking a lot of boxes still creates some big limitations in terms of what we want to create so isn't a suitable place due to these limitations.
Location 5: Charles Hasting cafe- An ideal location in terms of placement with a nice and open space as well as an outdoor space and access to food and drink. However is still to small for what we need it for this space would not allow everyone to effectively display there way and limit movement within the room which is not ideal and is also a health and safety risk.
